These oval/toothbrush foundation brushes will change your life!
Qtepiee here! I wanted
to share a little beauty tip! Ever had trouble using regular foundation brushes
because they tend to leave streaks on your skin, or soak up the foundation,
making you use more foundation or even waste it? Well I have something for you
to try! I have recently discovered make-up brushes that will make it so much
easier to apply your foundation and even highlighter and contour! They seem to
have different names, from toothbrush foundation brushes to oval foundation
brushes. I’ve even seen them called “Crème Puff” brushes!
These brushes are
unique in their look and the way they apply foundation. Regular brushes can
sometimes leave streaks and makes you use more foundation. These brushes allow
you to use less foundation and they give you a streak-less, air brushed look! Because
the fibers are so thickly packed into the brush, hardly any foundation seeps
inside of the bristles of the brush! This allows more foundation to stay on top
of the brush and helps you apply just the right amount of foundation to your
face! Using less foundation! The way the handle is shaped and the different
brush sizes allows you to glide the brushes across your face, forehead, and get
the hard to reach places under your eye and creases of your nose. I have used
these for a few months now and I will never go back to my old brushes! Find
them super affordable on Ebay!

Lengths: 3 bundles-20,22,24
Frontal length: 20inches
Type-Peruvian Loose Body
MY TIPS & MISTAKES!
Types of installs:
1. All sew
2. Elastic band (alone)
3. Glue
4. Tape
-First time, use elastic band until you perfect method.
-Bleach knots to get rid of black dots
-Will lift if don’t use band, glue or tape for newbies
-Tweeze BEHIND hair line to create baby hair (dont cut hair close to frontal edge to try to make baby hair)
-if your going to put frontal behind hairline, you must still find a way to prevent lifting (like sewing all the way around the front of the frontal*this could prevent you from being able to have a natural looking part tho* or using something sticky like Got2B glued to keep it down)
Tips to install-
Elastic band or Sew-DO NOT CUT LACE OFF FIRST. Measure ear to ear, cut to size, sew band on closure (unless all sew), put closure on head, pull forward in front of edges sew, sew anchor near ears, sew along back while making sure it doesn’t slide back, THEN carefully cut lace around forehead.
Tape- You CAN cut lace of first. Place tan cap on head (optional), pull forward, tuck edges under cap, sew or glue cap down, cut thick band off cap, (optional elastic band, recommended) clean skin with 90% alcohol, use skin protector, let dry, place NO SHINE tape on forehead (skin only) for length of frontal, pull frontal forward, place closure lightly on tape starting from middle, adjust if needed, press down hard or with rattail comb
Glue-Cut lace or leave on till later. Clean skin with alcohol, use skin protector, let dry, Place tan cap on head (optional but recommended), pull forward in front of edges, tuck edges in, glue down cap (on top or underneath cap, let dry, cut off thick band, glue again around edges of cap and on skin, pull fronal forward, press from middle then around edges.
My Mistakes!
-not leaving enough hair out to cover lace (if thin leave more)-bulky braids on top of head
-leaving space in between where closure is sewn at and edges
-using too much thread, leaving knots
-wrong braid pattern (no “across” braids)
-plucking too much hair around edges then deciding to leave hair out
-cutting lace too close to hair
-putting foundation powder or coloring lace, if not leaving hair out
-elastic band too long (not enough tension)
I will definitely try again because I have learned what I did wrong! I will probably make this hair into a wig so I can use the frontal to its full potential!

First Attempt! Crochet Braids/Twistout!
![]() |
Crochet Braids using latch hook method |
The first time I attempted it, I crocheted all the marley braid hair into my head. My hair was braided straight back but I made a "V" shaped braid in the front, like the picture below:
This allowed me to be able to switch my part to the middle or the side. I used a brand called "AFRO KINKY BRAID". FYI: I will never use this brand again because the hair gets hard and crunchy and it is dull! We after brushing the marley braid hair out and dampening it with water, I installed it with the latch hook. After installing all the hair, I rolled a few pieces with the hard plastic perm rods, then dipped them in some very hot water in a cup. The process was very hard and I burned myself several times with the hot water! I decided to take it all out because I was tired of burning myself and was not gettng the curl pattern I wanted. I decided to use the "pre-dipped" method instead, were I would roll the hair on the rods first, dip it in hot water for 30 seconds, let it air dry overnight, and install the curled hair in the morning. This worked soooo much better! Below are the examples of the rods I used (some perm rods, some flexi rods) and the type of curl the rods yields:

Once the curls were dry, I used the latch hook to install them (took about 25 minutes), and voila!

Finished look! |
I love the look, however I dont like how rough the hair I used is. I will be trying it on my hair again soon! I did my sister-in-laws hair (using this same method) and she loved it! She used a different type of hair (Motown Tress) with a little color in it. I like that type of hair better, however she got less hair in one pack:
